Zuellig Building - The Philippines

It’s always great to be the first at something; this beautiful Filipino building is the first in its region to reach the highest standards of sustainability! 🥇The first premium-grade office tower in the Philippines to be built after 2000, the Zuellig Building is famous for its eco-friendly design, unique facade and superior finishes. It is located in Manila’s Makati Central Business District, at the intersection of Makati Avenue and Paseo de Roxas, with the building adjacent to the green expanses of the Ayala Triangle Gardens and Urdaneta Village.The tower provides roughly 65,000 sqm of Class-A office space and approximately 2,000 sqm of retail area. It has won a number of awards for its impeccable design, such as the 2014 Global Award for Excellence from the Urban Land Institute (ULI), the 201 Global Best Projects, Best Project Award from the Green Category of Engineering News-Record, the 2012 Best Office & Business Development (Bronze) as well as the 2012 Your Choice Award from MIPIM Asia. The Zuellig Building was also the first high-rise office building in the Philippines to be awarded by the U.S. Green Building Council, with Precertification at the Platinum Level, under the LEED Core and Shell Rating System 🏆How did it get all those glamorous awards? The dual pane low-e glazing together with the fritting guarantees minimal solar gain and energy loss while simultaneously flooding 90% of the interior office space with natural daylight. A smart building control system that makes use of sensor-controlled lighting systems, in combination with efficient HVAC systems, has reduced the building’s overall energy consumption by 15% when compared to traditional office properties. Zuellig’s grey water recycling and rainwater collection are moreover projected to save nearly 29 million liters of water every year!Furthermore, CO2 sensors were implemented in densely occupied areas and return-air ducts to quantify the number of occupants, along with the quality of fresh air within that area. The outside airflow is adjusted according to the projected number of occupants in the space.
